Our Partners

Regg Swanson is the founding Partner of STAR Physical Therapy. Regg was born and raised in Nebraska, where he grew up working on a farm and became an avid athlete and outdoorsman. He graduated from Wayne State College with an M.A. in Sports Medicine. Following graduation, Regg traveled the world as a Certified Athletic Trainer for the U.S. Olympic Swim Team. Later, he became one of the 17 Athletic Trainers selected for the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, Korea. In 1996, the Atlanta Olympic Organizing Committee named Regg the Head Swimming Athletic Trainer.

After moving to middle Tennessee, Regg developed a comprehensive Sports Medicine/Athletic Training outreach program for local high schools. Regg was honored for his work in Athletic Training by his peers as the Tennessee Athletic Trainers’ Society “Tennessee Clinical Athletic Trainer of the Year.”

Currently, Regg serves on the board of directors for U.S. Physical Therapy. Further, Regg serves his community through his work at First Presbyterian Church and BrightStone. BrightStone is an organization helping adults with special needs.

Aside from work, Regg enjoys working and playing on his 40-acre cattle farm in Franklin, Tennessee, where he and his wife, Adora, raised their three children. Regg is enjoying his newest career as a grandfather.

Marty Blair grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, and later in Nashville, Tennessee. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Tennessee Tech, Marty continued his education by completing his MBA at Jacksonville State University.

Before joining STAR Physical Therapy in 2002, Marty spent ten years as an aerospace engineer designing and manufacturing motion control systems for aircraft, missiles, satellites, the space shuttle, and the space station. He also spent ten years as a Plant Manager and Vice President of Operations with American Greetings. Today, Marty is focused on STAR’s overall business operations.

Away from work, Marty is very involved with St. Henry Catholic Church and the Catholic Diocese of Nashville. In his free time, Marty enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, golfing, coaching football, and chasing his grandchildren.

Leslie Burton was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. She graduated from The Harpeth Hall School, where she participated in basketball, track, and cross country. Leslie graduated with honors from David Lipscomb University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Chemistry. She further pursued her education at the University of Central Arkansas, earning her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy.

For the past 23 years, Leslie has dedicated her career to outpatient physical therapy, specializing in the treatment of sports and orthopedic injuries. Since its inception in 1997, Leslie has been a Partner at STAR Physical Therapy. In addition to being a Partner, Leslie initially spent many years serving as Clinic Director at our South Nashville clinic. Today, Leslie oversees STAR’s corporate compliance program.

Leslie enjoys spending her spare time participating in bicycling fundraising events, boating, and snow skiing. She has a younger sister in Breckenridge, Colorado, who practices medicine, and an identical twin sister who lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with her husband and identical twin sons who attend LSU.

Bryant Hall, Sr. is from Nashville, Tennessee, and spent some of his childhood in Texas. He attended The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, earning his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Science. Bryant obtained his board certification in 2006 and is McKenzie Certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment.

Bryant has an experienced career that began with STAR as a Physical Therapist at our Franklin Clinic. In addition, he has been honored to serve the Grassland Community as the Clinic Director of our Grassland Clinic. Throughout his time at STAR, Bryant has actively served in various positions, including Mentor, Physical Therapist, Clinic Director, Patient/Medical Doctor Liaison, and Patient Experience Director. In 2023, Bryant became a Partner of STAR. As a Partner, he is excited to work with Clinician Recruitment and STAR’s Human Resources Department.

Bryant and his wife, Chaitra, have three amazing sons, and they are soaking up every moment of every day. They are loving life together while also having fun with all things basketball! Bryant enjoys coaching two very talented Team Nike Select 2028 and 2032 teams. He also assists with coaching the boys’ basketball teams at Sunset Middle School. In addition, Bryant serves as a Deacon and Youth Minister at Buena Vista Church in Nashville.

Hal Henninger was born and raised in Athens, Georgia. After coming to Nashville, Tennessee, to earn a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education at Vanderbilt University, Hal returned to his home state to complete his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy at the Medical College of Georgia in 1986.

In addition to being a Partner of STAR Physical Therapy, Hal also spent many years serving as a Clinic Director for STAR at our Franklin Clinic. Hal has over 25 years of outpatient physical therapy experience focused primarily on orthopedics and sports medicine. Today, Hal oversees STAR’s Human Resources department, Clinician Recruitment, and Risk Management.

Hal has been active in the community since serving as a board member for The Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He also served on advisory boards for Brentwood Academy and the Volunteer State Community College Physical Therapy Assistant Program. Hal loves spending his free time with his wife, children, and six grandchildren. Hal and his family attend Christ Community Church in Franklin, Tennessee.

Peter Jordan was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. He attended David Lipscomb High School and played varsity tennis all four years. Later, he attended Harding University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish in 2010. After that, he attended Belmont University in Nashville and graduated with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2013.

Peter remained in Nashville post-graduation and has worked in outpatient physical therapy since, with a particular interest in sports rehabilitation, orthopedics, and leadership. His passion for learning is indicated by his multiple advanced certifications, including McKenzie Certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment, Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist, and Certified Orthopaedic Manual Therapist. He has been with STAR Physical Therapy his entire professional career, primarily treating patients in the Bellevue clinic. He grew into the role of Regional Director of Operations and became a mentor for new hires and new directors.

In his free time, Peter enjoys spending time with his wife, Kara, and two kids, Everly and Asher. They enjoy swimming, playing outside, and hanging out together around the house. Additionally, they are passionate about working on home projects and pursuing other real estate endeavors. Peter and his family attend and are actively involved at Otter Creek Church of Christ.

Dave Landers was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, and grew up in Nashville, Tennessee. A graduate of Hillsboro High School, Dave continued his education at the University of Tennessee, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. He also earned his Masters and Doctorate degrees in Education from Tennessee State University.

Dave has more than 25 years of outpatient physical therapy experience and was the previous owner of Nashville Spine Center. Dave has been a partner at STAR Physical Therapy since its founding in 1997. Today, Dave oversees the clinician Continuing Education Program and manages the operations of many of STAR’s clinics.

Dave volunteers at Siloam Family Health Center and supports the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Dave and his family attend Christ Community Church in Franklin, Tennessee. In his free time, Dave enjoys golf, running, and spending time with his family.

Ross Maldonado was born and raised in Dyer County, Tennessee. He attended Dyer County High School, where he was a three-sport athlete. He then attended The University of Tennessee at Martin and Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC). Ross graduated from DSCC with an AAS in Business in the spring of 1995. He then went to The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, where he graduated with a BS in Physical Therapy in December 1998.

Ross returned home and has worked in outpatient physical therapy since graduating with a particular interest in sports, orthopedics, and leadership. In 2005, Ross joined the STAR family and opened our Dyersburg clinic. With the pursuit of growth in mind, he became a regional director for all of the West Tennessee clinics. In 2013, Ross became a Partner of STAR. He still maintains his regional duties and mentorship while also taking on the development of STAR West of the Tennessee River.

Ross and his wife, Charlotte Lee, reside in Dyersburg, Tennessee, as empty nesters. Together, they have four children who have moved on to the next chapter in their lives. When not at work, they love working in the yard, spending time with family, enjoying the outdoors at the lake, or hunting. Ross also serves on the Dyer County Office on Aging board, and he and his wife attend Ridgely Methodist Church.

Amy Morris, PT, DPT, COMT, OCS, FIT, graduated from the University of Alabama in 2000, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biology. In 2003, she received her doctorate in physical therapy from Belmont University. Amy then returned to her hometown of Tullahoma, Tennessee, where she started her practice in outpatient orthopedics. Her practice focuses on the management of acute and chronic spinal conditions and targeting the sports medicine population as she works with local middle and high school athletes. Her post-graduate education has emphasized the manual orthopedic world, with Amy receiving her COMT in 2010, becoming board-certified in orthopedics in 2020, and receiving her fellowship in manual orthopedics in 2022.

Throughout her professional career at STAR Physical Therapy, Amy’s passion has led her into the educational arena. She has been instrumental in implementing a multi-faceted new graduate Mentorship Program and establishing an Orthopedic Residency Program in conjunction with The Jackson Clinics. Amy is currently working on research to determine the impact of the nervous system on postoperative dosing and intervention for total knee arthroplasties.

Dr. Blair Morris has had roots in Hendersonville, Tennessee since he was a child attending Madison Academy. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Management and Marketing from Purdue University and a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Belmont University. His passion for clinical growth allowed him to specialize in serving a broad spectrum of patients, from older adults to professional CrossFit athletes. Blair believes every patient has an arena of life they are passionate about stepping back into. He enjoys helping his patients reclaim their unique inner athlete and return to their favorite hobbies.

Since joining STAR Physical Therapy in 2014, Blair has been director of several Sumner County clinics. His interest in development and leadership earned him an opportunity to serve as one of STAR’s Regional Director of Operations, a Clinical Mentor to new graduates, and open STAR’s first out-of-network clinic, Enhanced Physical Therapy, in Gallatin, Tennessee. In 2023, Blair became a Partner of STAR. As a Partner, he plays a significant role in leadership, development, and operations.

Blair is married to his wife, Rachel Morris. They reside in Gallatin with their daughters, Harper, Wren, and Joelle. In his downtime, Blair enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, fishing, and fitnessing.

Matt Roberts is a Nashville, Tennessee, native and graduate of Antioch High School. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and an MBA from Tennessee Tech University . Matt is an accounting and finance professional with over seventeen years of experience dedicated to the healthcare industry. His experience spans multiple business sizes, from start-ups/small to large enterprises. In 2023, Matt became a Partner of STAR. He is currently leading STAR’s accounting, finance, and revenue cycle.

Before joining STAR Physical Therapy, Matt worked in finance and operations roles across anesthesia, infusion/specialty pharmacy, and airway disease and immunology. During this time, he led the financial modeling and analysis that directly resulted in the initial outside capital funding. Before working in this capacity, Matt was an Accounting Manager with Physician Services, a subsidiary of Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) . He led a team responsible for the financial reporting for a major division and all hospital-based physician practices there.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Audrey, and three kids: Eleanor, Opal, and Townes. They are usually found on a soccer field, basketball court, swimming pool, or on a weekend trip. He also enjoys playing golf, watching football, and exercising with his tribe.

Dan Saylor is a Tennessee transplant from the deserts of Arizona. He grew up in a small town outside Phoenix, Arizona, working on his family’s cotton farm. In 2000, he graduated with his degree in Physical Therapy from Northern Arizona University. Dan joined STAR in 2001 after his wife Ann, a native of Knoxville who was working in Nashville at the time, lured him east.

Dan has worked in many clinics serving many communities for STAR. He started in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, in 2001 before opening an onsite clinic with Tyson Foods in 2003. Dan moved to open our Nolensville, Tennessee clinic in 2005 before being asked to take over our Ashland City, Tennessee clinic in 2006. In 2009, Dan moved one final time to his current clinic in Pleasant View, Tennessee, where he continues to practice part-time. In 2013, Dan became a Partner at STAR. He currently oversees operations as the Site Coordinator for Clinical Instruction for STAR.

Dan and his wife, Ann, have four children and reside in Pleasant View. Dan and Ann serve as deacons at 24 Church, with Dan also serving on their finance team. They spend their free time supporting their children, who play college basketball at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, high school basketball and soccer at Sycamore High School, and recreational soccer and basketball. Dan enjoys trivia, word games, craft beer, and watching all things sports.

Conor Smith was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, and graduated from Goodpasture High School. He received a degree in Science Education from Belmont University, where he also received honors as an Academic All-American for Belmont Men’s Basketball. In 1993, Conor graduated with his degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Conor joined STAR Physical Therapy in 2000, where he continues to treat patients at our Portland Clinic. In addition, Conor serves as a Regional Director, mentoring other STAR Clinic Directors and therapists. In addition, Conor serves as a clinical instructor for physical therapy students.

Conor is married to his wife, Sonnie, and has two daughters, Lindsey and Lauren. He enjoys hunting and leads a small group at Long Hollow Baptist Church.

Lisa Swartz was born and raised on a farm outside Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, where she received her undergraduate Health Science degree and Master’s in Physical Therapy. Lisa became board-certified by the American Physical Therapy Association in Sports Physical Therapy in 1997 and is McKenzie Certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment.

Lisa has been active in athletics her entire life, which fueled her desire to become a Certified Athletic Trainer in 1992, shortly after she began practicing Physical Therapy in Cincinnati, Ohio. She has served patients in the clinic for 25 years and has worked with athletes from recreational to high school, college, and professional levels.

Lisa and her family moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 2000. She joined STAR and opened our Green Hills clinic in 2001. Lisa has been actively involved in STAR’s Continuing Educational Program. In addition, Lisa has been instrumental in developing our Mentorship Program for our young clinicians. She mentors many of STAR’s Clinic Directors in her primary role of Clinical Operations and works to inspire clinicians to become great mechanics of the human body™.

In her free time, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband, Mitch, and their three children – Lizzie, Mason, and Abby. There are many sporting events to attend and coach for the Swartz Family! They live in Franklin, Tennessee, and are members of St. Matthew Church.

Kathy Vaughn was born in Nashville, Tennessee, and grew up in Springfield, Tennessee, where she graduated from Springfield High School. She attended Volunteer State Community College and obtained her A.A.S. in 1996, after which she entered clinical practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Kathy graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2009, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Management and Human Relations. As a lifelong learner, Kathy is working to obtain her Master’s in Healthcare Administration.

Before joining STAR, Kathy practiced in several outpatient locations in Middle Tennessee, where she developed an interest in treating patients with orthopedic and spine-related conditions. Kathy joined the STAR family in 1999 with the opening of the Springfield clinic, where she continued to pursue this interest. In 2003, Kathy joined STAR’s Marketing Team and has served as the Marketing Director for the northern clinical region since. She has been actively involved in new clinic openings, education, and building brand awareness in local communities. In 2022, Kathy became a Partner of STAR. She serves in the areas of Marketing, Development, and Leadership.

Kathy and her husband, Craig, have two fantastic daughters – Hayley and Olivia. They are currently enjoying their freedom as empty nesters. They enjoy traveling and spending time on their farm during their free time. Kathy enjoys reading, fitness, and all things home improvement. They attend Main Street Church of Christ in Springfield.

Kelly Ziegler has been with STAR Physical Therapy since January 1998. Kelly is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, and his emphasis with STAR is in Industrial Rehabilitation and Marketing. He has over 20 years of experience with Workers’ Compensation patients performing Functional Capacity Evaluations, Work Conditioning Programs, Ergonomic Analysis, and Industrial Education.

Kelly is a former linebacker and also served as the team captain for the Tennessee Volunteers football team. He has remained active in athletics by working with high school and youth sports teams in Robertson County. He is married to the former Regina Bellar of Springfield, Tennessee, and is busy with his wife raising their three children, Zack, Hannah, and Rebecca. The Zieglers attend Springfield Baptist Church.
