When you choose to receive Physical Therapy without a physician’s prescription, it is crucial to choose a qualified physical therapy provider. Please know that your well-being is our primary concern at STAR Physical Therapy. As your trusted and expert physical therapy provider, we will always do what is best for you. After your initial physical therapy evaluation, your physical therapist will recommend the appropriate care plan for you. Your plan may include continued physical therapy, simple behavior modifications, rest, a recommendation that you see a physician for further testing, or a combination of these options. The point is this – we will not waste your time or money if physical therapy is not your best option for a full and quick recovery.

A: No, physical therapists cannot prescribe medications. If your PT feels this is warranted, he/she will make a referral to the appropriate health care provider.
